College Applications

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

Wow! It seems that those first few articles were a bit heavy. So I will back off on trying to solve all the world’s problems with the Efficient Forms Transaction Origination Platform.

Ahhh, mid April … taxes are paid. Spring is in the air. Tulips are blooming. Seniors are receiving college rejection letters. Yes, all is well … hold it one minute! What’s this rejection letter thing? All is not well.

For many of us who have long ago forgotten applying to college and choose to only remember the excessive social experiences of our college years, it’s hard to understand the heightened anxiety high school seniors face as they open rejection letter after rejection letter from their favorite colleges. Luckily, most of them have applied to six to 10 schools, and most will receive a coveted acceptance letter. They shout, “Finally!!”

In one very brief instance, their emotion quickly shifts from complete hopelessness to complete relief and then to complete cockiness. They quickly call their friends who haven’t yet received an acceptance letter, and the conversation will go something like this:

Accepted Student (AS): “Hey”

Not yet Accepted Student (NYAS): “ssssup”

AS: “Not much”

NYAS: “m’either”

AS: “Oh have I told you I have finally decided to go to Blanky Blank U next year?”

NYAS: “oh”

AS: “Yes, BBU was my first choice, but I thought I would consider all my options”

AS: “I’m sure you’ll get in somewhere, but I heard that all the acceptance letters were sent several weeks ago …”

Ahhh, the daily ritual of high school, humiliate your friends before they humiliate you!

It’s hardly a laughing matter, with rejection letters at an all time high again this year, and nearly every major media outlet has picked up these headlines, which really doesn’t help. The higher rejections are understandable, what with the biggest graduating senior class in U.S. history and the largest percent of them wanting to attend a four-year institution. Not to mention, the global competition for a position in at a U.S. university. But none of this helps, does it?

So for this generation of college applicants who feel like they were born at the wrong time, we are dedicated to helping ease the pain. CollegeZapps is powered by the Efficient Forms Transaction Origination Platform, and it is a fast and easy way for students to apply to college.

But for now, enjoy the spring. As fall grows near and the thought of college apps comes back around, I’ll post more information on CollegeZapps.
